AFCAT

Indian Air Force conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) for candidates to recruit them to Flying, Technical and Ground Duty Officer Branches. It came into existence in the year 2011.
 
Graduates in all streams including B.E, B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Com, CA, ICWA are eligible to apply  for AFCAT 2017.

Educational Qualification -
 
(a) Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 
 
(b) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 
 
Candidates should have mandatorily passed 60% marks with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level.
 
(c) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or 
Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 
 
Visual Standards -
 
(a) Candidates who habitually wear spectacles are not eligible. 
 
(b) Minimum distant vision 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other correctable to 6/6 only for Hyper metropia colour vision CP-1. Hypermetropia: +2.0 d Sph, Manifest Myopia: Nil, Retinoscopic Myopia: -0.5 in any meridian permitted, Astigmatism: + 0.75 D Cyl (with +2.0 D- Max) Maddox Rod Test (i) at 6 meters - Exo-6 prism D, Eso-6 prism D, Hyper-1 prism D, Hypo-1 prism (ii) at 33 cms -
Exo-16 prism D, Eso-6 prism D, Hyper-1 prism D, Hypo-1 prism D. Hand held stereoscope - All of BSV Grades. Convergence - upto 10 cm. Cover test for distant and near - Lateral divergence/convergence recovery rapid and complete. Binocular Vision - Must possess good binocular vision (fusion and stereopsis with good amplitude and depth). 
 
Age - 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jul 2018 i.e. born between 02 Jul 1994 to 01 Jul 1998. (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current CommercialPilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 Jul 1992 to 01 Jul 1998 (both dates inclusive).

(a) Height: The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. For women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. (For Gorkhas and individual belonging to hills of NorthEastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height will be by 2 cms less. Applicable to men and women).
 
(b) Weight: Proportionate to the height and age.

Paper Pattern

AFCAT 2017  Pattern:-

The AFCAT Question Paper will have 100 questions. All questions will be of three marks each. For every correct answer the candidate will get three marks and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted under negative marking. The total time allotted for the paper is two hours. 

 
Each Question Paper will have questions from the following topics:- 
 
(a) General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc. 
 
(b) Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary. 
 
(c) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest. 
 
(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

AFCAT 2017 Preparation:- 

Practice solved papers that are available online and you can also buy solved papers from the market as well. During the exam solve the easy questions first so that you can find time to solve hard questions later. Try concentrating on the logics of concepts, rather memorizing the formulas and procedures. Develop your own methodologies to solve a problem.
