Though, a wide range of job oriented course has mushroomed but engineering still shares a special place among students’ hearts in India. The field is still considered as an evergreen option for science students. But getting admission to first year of engineering course is not as easy as it sounds; one has to pass different types entrance engineering exams held nationwide. Besides state entrance test, many reputed technical schools, too have separate entrance tests. Birla Institute of Technology and Science is one of the top rated technical institutes in India, known for its excellent pedagogy in engineering and sciences. Every year, the college conducts aptitude test i.e. BITSAT through which it picks up the best capable students for under graduate course in engineering i.e. B.Tech. It’s a computer based online test through which BITS permits admission to its first year degree programmes run in its three campuses i.e. Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
BITSAT Registration / Application Form
The application forms for BITSAT 2013 have not been released yet, but we provide you a basic idea on the application procedure based on the last year. Students, who wish to apply for BITSAT 2013, have to apply online. The application form for BITSAT 2013 can be obtained from the official website of BITSAT. The duly filled application form with latest photographs and signature should be sent to BITS, Pilani. The form should be attached with a demand draft of Rs.1600 (for males) and Rs.1200 (for females).
Candidates can download the ‘Hall Ticket’ form the website, before coming to the center on the day of exam.
BITSAT Exam Dates
The examination date for BITSAT 2013 will be announced soon. BITSAT 2013 is expected to conduct in the month of April or May.
The syllabus for BITSAT 2013 exam will be purely based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of 10+2 level. Apart from three sections, there will be questions to judge the proficiency in English language. Candidates should work on Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehensions and Compositions to score marks in English.
Physics: - Units & Dimensions, Vectors, Kinematic, Dynamics, Friction, Rotatory Motion and many more
Chemistry: - Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure, Stoichiometry, Solid State, Thermodynamics etc.
Mathematics: - Algebra, Trigonometry, Vector, Probability, Calculus and Coordinate Geometry.

BITSAT will be three hours paper. The test includes four sections i.e. 1) Physics 2) Chemistry 3) English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning and 4) Mathematics. All questions are objective type questions. For each incorrect response, 1 mark will get deducted.
Since BITSAT is a computer based online test, it is advisable that candidates should make themselves comfortable with computer; many of us are not computer freak. Before appearing for coming year’s BITSAT exam, try to solve previous year BITSAT papers as solving papers will make you feel as in the exam hall and help in preventing nervy moments during the actual exam. Try to keep constant touch with basics that have been enlightened at 10+2 level.
