NID DAT

Conducted by National Institute of Design, DAT is Design Aptitude Test that is held specially to determine the design abilities of aspirants. NID 2016 serves as an entry pass into the field of design sector, which is tagged among the most flourishing fields. Every year, hundreds of aspirants appear for NID DAT test to make their dream come true of being a designer; be it in Industrial, Communication, IT, Textile or Integrated design. The exam is conducted in Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nagpur.

NID DAT 2017 Eligibility criteria:-

Bachelor of Design

All candidates applying for Bachelor of Design programmes must fulfil the following criteria:

CRITERION 1 - AGE LIMIT

- Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years of age (relaxable by three years for reserved category) on or before July 1, 2017.

- General Category applicants: Candidates born on or before July 1, 1997 are not eligible.

- Reserved Category applicants (OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH): Candidates born on or before July 1, 1994 are not eligible

CRITERION 2 - EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

- Applications for Academic Year 2017-18 is open to applicants who have passed or will appear for the qualifying examinations under the higher secondary (10+2) from any recognized Board of Education such as AISSCE/IB/ICSE, or equivalents, during the academic year 2016-17.

Examinations considered as equivalent to class XII are:

- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org).

- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.

- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

- Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

- H.S.C. vocational examination.

- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

- Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.

Master of Design

All candidates applying for Master of Design programmes must fulfil the following criteria:

CRITERION 1 - AGE LIMIT

- Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years of age (relaxable by three years for reserved category) on or before July 1, 2017.

- General category applicants: Candidates born before on or before July 1, 1987 are not eligible.

- Reserved category applicants (OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH): Candidates born on or before July 1, 1984 are not eligible.

CRITERION 2 - EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

- Applications for Academic Year 2016-17 is open to applicants who have successfully passed any one of the following qualifying exams in 2015:

- Bachelors degree in any discipline under the 10+2+4 (or more) system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India.

- Bachelors degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India, with a one year experience or further academic qualifications.

- Diploma in Design under the 10+2+4 system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India.

Please Note: In case Degree/Certificate has been obtained from some University/Board of any other country, then the candidate must obtain an equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, www.aiuweb.org prior to admission.

NID Admission

NID DAT Syllabus

NID DAT 2017 Syllabus:-

NID DAT 2017 exam doesn’t have any set syllabus. Question will be asked on basics topics such as Communication Skills, Composition, Creativity, Drawing Skills, General Mental Ability, and Sensitivity to Environment and Subjects of Design. 

 

Paper Pattern

NID 2017 DAT Pattern:-

Design Aptitude Test (DAT) seeks evidence of Knowledge, Comprehension, Analysis, Reasoning, Problem Solving and Creativity in the applicant.

There will be ONE question paper of 3 hours duration.
The question paper will be in English.
The question paper will carry a total of 100 marks, out of which Section A carrying 70 marks will be of multiple choice objective type questions and Section B carrying 30 marks will be of subjective type questions.
All questions are compulsory.
There will be no negative marking.

Section A

Total: 70 marks

Multiple choice objective type questions varying from 0.5 marks to 4 marks each.

Section B

Total: 30 marks

Subjective Type questions

Problem solving and Creativity based questions test the candidates’ ability to judge, evaluate, integrate, hypothesize, design or construct.

NID 2017 Preparation:-

The institute has limited number of seats for under graduate and post graduate programmes thus only those candidates who score highest marks will be considered for the next round of selection. The most essential thing that candidate should know about is its pattern, which can be searched by surfing popular sites through internet. It is advisable to students that they should hone their drawing skill as it will be of great help during the course. Students can also solve previous years’ papers that can be obtained from the internet.
