Given below are the details on Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2015-16 for Class 6th, 11th Application Form, Eligibility Criteria and Rules. Navodaya Vidyalayas are CBSE affiliated institutions that offer free education to children from Class VI to Class XII. NVS Schools are co-educational residential schools that provide free boarding and lodging facilities to students apart from deferring expenses for uniforms, textbooks, stationery and travelling expenses. Navodaya Vidalayas are located all over the country including Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar islands expect the state of Tamilnadu.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission:-
Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission is done on the basis of a national level selection test. Known as the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test this test is aimed at offering an opportunity for students from rural areas to pursue better education . Advertisements regarding admission are aired on Doordarshan, All India Radio as well as published in various local newspapers. Apart from that principals and teachers also visit local schools of the district and spread the message by word of mouth and pamphlets. The JNVS test is conducted in 21 different languages.
a.A student studying in Class V in a government aided or recognized school under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan or B certificate competency course of the National Open School in the same district where he or she is studying or wishing to seek admission to is eligible for admission in the next academic session for which admission is being conducted is eligible to apply.
b.Students aged between 9 and 13 years of age as in year of admission are eligible to apply. This applies to students of SC/ST categories.
c.Applicants applying through rural quota should have passed Class III, IV, V from government, government aided or government recognized schools in rural. (However this is not applicable to students applying from urban quota.
•Applicants who are not promoted to Class V in November of the preceding academic year are not eligible.
•Applicants will not in any circumstance allowed to appear second time for a given test.
1.75 percent of seats are reserved for students from districts.
2.SC and ST reservation is carried out on the basis of proportion to the population.
3.In cases in which the average is less than the national average the reservation followed is as (7.5% for ST and 14 % of SC candidates).
4.This is subject to a maximum of 50% in both categories.
Admission to Class IX and under vacant seats:
The Samiti also conducts admission to Class IX under vacant seats through the All India level Selection test. Information regarding vacant seats in NVS schools in various districts would be notified in the local newspaper.
•Only those candidates are eligible for the selection test who have studied or studying in Class VIII in one of the Govt./Govt. Recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located.
•Applicants seeking admission must the age criteria as mentioned by the board. This will apply to candidates of all categories including those belonging to SC/ST
•Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti reserves the right to refer any candidate to MEDICAL BOARD for confirmation of the age in case of any doubt on age certificate produced by the candidate before the admission is given.
How to Apply for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission test for Class IX?
Applicants wishing to apply for admission are required to apply in the prescribed application format. Application forms are available on the board’s website and also available free of cost with the Prinicipals of NVS schools in a particular district.
Completed application forms must be posted in the office of the Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the concerned district through registered post A/D. If the candidate prefers to submit an application form in person, he/she is required to get the acknowledgement receipt from the office of the Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
Selection Test will consist of subject of Mathematics, General Science, Hindi and English. The level of the test paper shall be at par with Class VIII.
Duration of Examination : Three hours
Center for the Examination shall be in the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA of the district concerned.
Selection and Admission:-
•Applicants are required to produce relevant documents like Birth certificates, pass certificate of class VIII with mark sheet, SC/ST certificate etc.
•Applicants will not be informed of the number of marks obtained.
•There is no provision for re-checking and re-totaling.
•Applicants who have appeared for the selection test will be called for considered for selection.
•At the time of admission SC/ST candidates are required to submit caste and related certificates.
