April 18,Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has scrapped RPET- Rajasthan pre engineering test which is directed for engineering college admission in Rajasthan. In addition to this the government has also formed a CAC (Centralized Admission Committee) consisting of experts from the field of technical education to oversee engineering college admission in Rajasthan 2015-16.
Supporting the decision of scrapping RPET which has been used for some time for B.Tech/B.E admission in Rajasthan, the government said that the new accepted model for government and private engineering college admission in Rajasthan is better and more time-saving than the earlier model.
Under the new system of admission to engineering colleges in Rajasthan without RPET, 50 percent of seats will be filled in through Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) merit list.The remaining 50 percent will be filled on the basis of class 12 merit list.
The technical education minister Kalicharan Saraf who announced the government';s decision to scrap RPET said that of the total seats, 15 per cent seats would be allotted under the management quota and as many will be reserved for students from outside the state. The remaining 70 percent of seats will be for students belonging to the state of Rajasthan.
