The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth is the public university which is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The university has more than 350 + affiliated colleges which are spread over six districts. It was the first modern university which was organized by Indians in the British India. Bhagwan Das was the first vice – chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth is set up with the objective to propagate and enhance the development of the Indian civilization and culture based on spiritualism. The university is engaged in providing the wide range professional and academic courses in law, arts, commerce, computing and management and science. 

 
The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth was established in the year 1921 as Kashi Vidyapeeth and later renamed. It is administered under state legislature of the UP government. It is one of the largest state universities in the Uttar Pradesh with hundreds of thousands of students from both rural and urban areas. This university has earned B+ status from the national assessment and accreditation control.  Originally named as Kashi Vidyapeeth, this university is renamed in the year 1995.

Admission to the eligible candidates will be given as per the admission procedure prescribed by the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. The university holds an entrance examination in order to impart admissions in the different courses. 
 
For UG Courses:
 
Admission to the undergraduate courses will be given through the entrance examination which is conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth.
 
For PG Courses:
 
The university organizes an entrance examination in order to grant admission to the postgraduate courses.

The notification regarding the admission has been released by the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. The online form filling date for Ph.D. (GREAT) has been extended up to 20 July 2016. The result for entrance examination is declared by the university and available on the university’s official link. The students can check the same by using the roll number and date of birth.
