College of Engineering Anna University Chennai is one of the pioneer engineering institutes in the state of Tamil Nadu, which was established in the year 1794. The college is one among the four constituents of Anna University in Chennai. Earlier, the college was affiliated to the University of Madras and later on, it was brought into affiliation to Anna University, Chennai.
Ever since its inception, the college is known for having good linkages with several foreign organizations such as USAID, UNCHS, Ford Foundation, European Economic Community and the Governments of Germany and UK. Moreover, the college was awarded with its own postal stamp on its 200th anniversary in the year 1994.
Being one of the leading and oldest engineering colleges in India, it offers a wide range of technical courses to those students who want to enter into the evergreen field of engineering. It offers 4 years full time Under Graduate courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrics & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
Admission to the College is based on the candidate's performance in the TANCET (Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test).
The institute is located in the southern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The institute is well equipped with all the modern facilities. It has well maintained book library, computer lab with high speed internet connectivity. All the science labs are highly maintained and have been equipped with modern machineries and equipments.
