SSC Stenographer- SSC Stenographer is a paper-pen based all-India open examination directed for recruitment to the post of Stenographer Grade'C' and Grade 'D'. 12 standard pass aspirants aged between 18 and 27 years of age are eligible to apply for SSC Stenographer Recruitment exam. The examination for SSC Stenographer comprises of objective type examination followed by skill test in stenography at 100 word per minute (w.p.m) and 80 word per minute (w.p.m) for posts  of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ &’D’ respectively.
 
Aspirants who obtain the qualifiying marks in the SSC Stenographer written examination directed by the SSC will only be called for Skill Test. You are advised that the skill test in stenographer exam is compulsory in SSC Stenographer Recruitment as such individuals without knowledge of stenographer should avoid applying for this exam. 
 
Staff Selection Commission directs All-India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of 
 
  • Stenographer Grade 'C' (Grade 'B' Non-Gazetted) in Pay Band 2 plus grade pay
  • Stenographer Grade 'D' (Grade 'C' Technical) in Pay Band 1 plus grade pay as permissible by various central government ministeries/departments and offices. 
 
Eligibility for SSC Stenographer Exam 2022 :- 
 
Nationality:- 
 
A person must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the 
 
Age Limit -

a) Stenographer Grade C - 18 to 30 years as on 01.01.2022, i.e., candidates born not before 02.01.1992 and not later than 01.01.2004 are eligible to apply.

b) Stenographer Grade D - 18 to 27 years as on 01.01.2022, i.e., Candidates born not before 02.01.1995 and not later than 01.01.2004 are eligible to apply.

Age-relaxation permissible beyond the upper age limit -

SC/ ST - 5 years
OBC - 3 years
PwD (Unreserved) - 10 years
PwD (OBC) - 13 years
PwD (SC/ ST) - 15 years

Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 05.09.2022) - Candidates must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Fee payable - Rs 100/-

Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.

Fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.

Upload -

Scanned colour passport size photograph in JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB). The photograph should not be more than three months old from the date of publication of the Notice of Examination. Image dimension of the photograph should be about 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5cm (height). The photograph should be without cap and spectacles.

Scanned signature in JPEG format (10 to 20 KB): Image dimension of the signature should be about 4.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height). Applications with illegible/blurred signature will be rejected.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus

SSC Stenographer 2022 Syllabus:- 
 
General Intelligence & Reasoning - It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate?s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
 
General Awareness - Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate?s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
 
For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability opting for scribe there will be no component of Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/ Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning/ General Awareness Paper.
 
English Language & Comprehension - In addition to the testing of candidates' understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/ her writing ability, would also be tested.

Question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.
 
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
 
The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 word per minute (w.p.m) for the post of Stenographer Grade C  and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade  D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer. The transcription time is as follows:
