PhD in Management – Overview of the Course:

Generally, the course is pursued by the people who wish to work as a professor in the Business Schools. The Business Schools of repute give preference to the faculty who have completed the PHD. On the similar lines, the more the number of PHD Scholars, the more is the reputation of the college.

• 4 to 5 years of duration

FMS Delhi PhD in Management:-


Eligibility:-

Candidates having a MBA/Master’s Degree in an allied subject from University of Delhi or equivalent would be required to write the CAT Exam for admission to the Ph.D. programme.

Applicants should have a minimum experience of two years post their MBA/Master’s Degree on the date of writing the admission test.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree of duration of four years or more, viz. B.Tech. or MBBS who have obtained a minimum of 70% and 60% marks or equivalent grades respectively, and also have obtained any national level fellowships, are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. programme.
 

BHU PhD in Management:-

Eligibility Criteria:-

Qualifying Examination: Master's degree in Business Management (M.B.M.), Management Studies/ Management Sciences (M.M.S.), Business Administration (M.B.A.), International Business Administration (M.I.B.A.), International Business (M.I.B.), M.B.A. (Agri-Business) OR Two years postgraduate diploma in Management from any one of the Indian Institutes of Management (I.I.Ms)/or First Class in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent to Master's Degreee in Management by AIU/accredited by AICTE/UGC or Xavier Labour Relations Institute (X.L.R.I.), Jamshedpur or Management Development Institute (M.D.I.), Gurgoan or Institute of Management and Technology (I.M.T.), Ghaziabad or Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (I.I.F.T.), New Delhi or International Management Institute (I.M.I.), New Delhi or School of Management Sciences, Varanasi and Lucknow or First class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant/Cost and Works Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned statutory bodies.

Qualifying Marks: At least 60% in the aggregate or equivalent grade point average in the qualifying examination or First Class as per the norms of the concerned University.

Admission Procedure:-

There are two categories of Admission to Doctoral Program in Management. First is through Common Research Entrance Test conducted by the Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University every year.

The second category is CRET Excempted Category to which canddiates who have qualified NET-JRF of UGC will be considered for admission. Further working executives are also considered for admission under this Category as Part Time Research Scholar.


BITS Pilani PhD in Management:-

Eligibility for Admissions:-

Any Higher Degree of BITS or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination. Any applicant with qualification equivalent to Integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one of the higher degree programmes of the Institute. Such candidates may first be admitted to the M.E./M.Phil. programmes offered by the Institute subject to the eligibility conditions. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test/interview for selections.


Calcutta University PhD in Management:-

Eligibility:-

Candidates must have completed their Master’s Degree or equivalent in Business Management/ Human Resources Management/ Commerce/ Social Sciences/ Humanities (excluding Music, Visual Arts, Fine Arts & Dramatics)/ Sciences/ Law/ Library Science/ Technology/ Medicine or allied disciplines from University of Calcutta or from other UGC recognized Universities/ Institutes, with equivalence clearance from the Registrar’s Office, University of Calcutta.

Candidates who are exempted from Written Test under the ‘Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. Regulation 2009’ of Calcutta University may apply for appearing for Interview, subject to equivalence clearance from Registrar’s office, wherever required.

Minimum 55% marks in Masters Degree or equivalent is required.

Admission Process:-

Written test will be conducted of 100 marks of 3 (three) hours duration. The modules of Test will be 3 (three) namely the following:

‘Quantitative and Logical Reasoning’ with weight of 40%.

‘Analysis of a Business Issue’ with weight of 30%.

Two Concept Papers’ (to be selected from the given research themes) with weight of 30%

Qualifying marks for written test: 40

Interview of 100 marks. All candidates who qualify in the written test and the exempted category will have to appear for interview.

Selection would be made from the Written Test qualified candidates and the eligible exempted category candidates on the basis of the marks obtained in the Interview only (subject to clearance of equivalence).


IGNOU PhD in Management:-

Duration- 2 years (minimum) 5 years (maximum)

Eligibility: Masters degree in management (MBA, MMS, MIBA, MIB) or two years post graduate degree in management. Professionally qualified aspirants (CA, CS) are also eligible to apply.  Applicants with five years of teaching/ industry/ administration/ professional experience at senior level are also eligible to apply 60 percent or equivalent CGPA or first class as per norms of university in case of general category candidates (55% or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST candidates).
