Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jind was established in pursuance to the National Policy of Education. The objective of the vidyalaya is to provide free education of highly quality to the talented students of the distinct, hailing from rural areas. Students are selected on a competitive selection test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. Selected students are provided free boarding facilities, text books, stationery etc. The admitted children are accommodated in different houses.

JNV selection test for admission to class IX is held every year in the month of May.
