Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Madurai started functioning with effect from 15.04.2004 due to the efforts undertaken by social workers. Vidyalaya started functioning up to classes VIII - single section.Within 4 months, two sections were sanctioned up to class VIII due to the heavy pressure from the public and availability of space in the building. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
