Yale University Infrastructure

Yale University Infrastructure:

Yale University comprises of 15 academic schools and 12 residential colleges. It's main campus is located in downtown New Haven and additional lands in Rural Connecticut and Horseland complete with golf course and natural reserves. Yale University infrastructure is noteworthy for its collegiate gothic campus as well as several iconic buildings. The university, a township in itself, provides all necessary facilities for students and faculty. Apart from this some of the notable features of infrastructure include Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven Marsh Botanical Garden and Yale Sustainable Food Project Farm. Yale's Office of Sustainability and Development developes and implements sustainability practises at the university.

Students are assigned to a residential college in their freshman year.The majority of on-campus freshmen live on the "Old Campus", an extensive quadrangle formed by older buildings. Each residential college has its own dining hall, but students are permitted to eat in any residential college dining hall or the large dining facility called "Commons".

Yale University Student Life and Activities

Yale is a medium sized research university, most of whose students study in graduate or professional programs. Students of the college hail from different  ethnic, national and socio-economic backgrounds. Yale Open has an open campus for the gay community. The university hosts a variety of student journals, magazines and newspapers.  The Yale College Council (YCC) serves and the undergraduate campus government. The campus also includes several  fraternities and sororities that include Yale Politicial Council, Yale International Relations Association, secret societies and Elizabethan Club.

Yale supports 35 varsity athletic teams that compete in the Ivy League Conference, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association. The varsity's athletic teams compete intercollegiately at the NCAA Division I level. Like other members of the Ivy League, Yale does not offer athletic scholarships.
